Type of Telegrams & Tarriff Description Setup Letter telegrams: This is the most economical way of sending a telegram. Minimum chargeable words are 22 based on the destination. Delivery is within 24 hours. Ordinary telegrams: minimum charge is for 7 words. Final cost based on the destination. Delivery is within 24 hours. Urgent telegrams: Minimum chargeable words are 7. Final cost based on the destination. Delivery is within 6 hours. LT priority minimum charge is for 22 words. Each word is counted at half the charge of Ordinary rate for most destinations. Inland telegrams: This is sent from a customer in Bahrain to a person in Bahrain in the form of an ordinary telegram. The minimum chargeable words are 50 including the address

Every word, groups of characters or expressions are counted and charged as follows:

• Not exceeding 10 characters are counted as one chargeable word each.
• Exceeding 10 characters are counted at the rate of one chargeable word for each 10 characters or part thereof.

How to send a telegram

• By Telex (Printergram): Simply call 11+. The ATX (telex exchange) will then direct the telegram into the f31 printergram channel.
• By Phone (Phonogram): Simply call the operator on 17 881131, supply your name, address and telephone number. The operator will then call you back to take down your message and the address of the sendee. The charge of the telegram will be addded on your next telephone bill.
• By Fax (Faxgram): You can fax your telegram message to 17 261152, 17 883451, 17 230011 or 17 274578. Make sure you include your name, address, telephone number as well as the address of the receiver. The charge of the telegram will be added on your next telephone bill.
• By e-mail (E-gram): You can e-mail your telegram message to telegram@batelco.com.bh Make sure to include your contact telephone number. The charge of the telegram will be added on your next telephone bill.
• In Person: You can visit any Batelco Customer Service Centre and send a telegram from there. Batelco Customer Service Centres are located conveniently throughout Bahrain (Manama, Diplomat Area, Isa Town, East Riffa, Muharraq and the Airport).

• To a Telex Machine: A telegram can be sent to a telex machine according to the customer’s instructions.
• To a Fax Machine: A telegram can be sent to a fax machine either manually or automatically (through the Message Switching System) as per the customer’s instructions.
• By Hand: A telegram can be delivered by hand to the address indicated.
• To A Post Box: A telegram can be sent to a post box number if it contains the P. O. Box Number only.
• Via Phone: A telegram message can be delivered over the phone, if the receiving party has a valid phone number, especially when it’s a matter requiring urgent attention.
• Transit Telegram: Batelco offers a transit link to many telegraph offices for sending messages to several countries.
