What is the different between Router or a Modem?
The modem:
- Can be used for a single computer
- Every time you have to dial in your user credential "Username & Password" to get connected.
- Each modem has it independent software which you shall install on your PC.
The Router:
- Can be used for Home Network and connect up to 4 PC to the Internet.
- The connection will be always on. "You don’t have to enter your user credential every time you want to connect to the Internet"
- Has more advance features e.g. Port Forwarding.
- No software to be installed on your PC.
What factors affect the broadband speed that I can receive?
Throughput Speed: The maximum speed could vary due to the:
- Number of subscribers online at the same time
- Number of people accessing the same web sites that you are .
Once connected and stable, the access line speed and throughput can be affected by a number of factors:
