• Batelco, Bahrain’s leading telecommunications operator and one of the major sponsors of education in the Kingdom had sponsored the UOB (University of Bahrain) Career Day, which took place at the university’s Sakhir campus on ِApril 2, 3 and 4, 2007.
• Batelco Chief Executive Peter Kaliaropoulos and General Manager Human Resources Shaikh Ahmed Al Khalifa made a presentation to University of Bahrain staff and students at a workshop held at the Sakhir campus on March 14, in advance of the Career Day. The senior Batelco executives attended a Press Conference that followed the workshop.
• Batelco Training & Development department held a party to welcome a group of employees’ children selected this year to benefit from Batelco Scholarship Scheme and honoured another group who completed their university studies. Batelco is the first company to introduce such a vital scheme that helps its employees through financially supporting their children to continue their study in the University of Bahrain and other institutes in Bahrain.
• Five lucky students were given the opportunity to further their education, thanks to Batelco. The winning students, A. Jalil Hasan Ali Hussain, Zainab Ismail Abdulla, Ebrahim Moh’d Ali Alawadhi, Mohd Salman Ali and Shuaib Hasan Yaqoob Alaali were presented with their Scholarship Prizes at a recent presentation ceremony.
• A major regional seminar on the Standardization and Development of Next Generation Networks (NGN) for the Arab Region was held at the Gulf Hotel. The event, which ran from April 29th to May 3rd, under the patronage of Batelco Chairman Shaikh Hamad Bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, was jointly organised by Bahrain Telecommunications Company (Batelco), the Telecommunication Development Bureau (BDT) and The Standardisation Bureau of the International Telecommunication Union (TSB – ITU).
• Batelco Toastmasters Club Vice President of Public Relations Noreen Haji has taken first place in the recent Area 10 International Speech Contest, which was held at the Bahrain Society of Engineers Hall, Juffair. Ms. Haji, who is an Information System Specialist with Batelco, has been a member of the Toastmasters Club since it was formed in July of last year.
